Working on The Rings of Power was a wonderful experience, I got to visit New Zealand and work
with a terrific group of very talented artists, some who I already knew and also new ones with incredible skills and professionalism.
The show started in Santa Monica with production designer Rick Heinrichs and a small pool of local artists. After a few months of development the company moved us all to New Zealand and Production designer Ramsey Avery came onboard to helm the Art Department there . Our local team was extremely friendly and helped us adapt to the country and the city of Auckland.
The very first months were difficult because of the winter but we managed to have fun despite of the amount of design work at hand .
The country is indeed breathtaking and I got to visit many great spots on the weekends and also did a long road trip in the south island with my good friend Robert Castro.
For anyone interested here's a list of our Art department illustrators where you can check more of their inspiring works. The concept team grew as the show went along bringing more artists from across the globe.
Hope you enjoy it.
