Pike St. 1915

Inspired by Berenice Abbott’s famous 1936 photograph of Pike street and Madison st in New York city. It was particularly difficult to find all the buildings depicted here since they no longer exist unfortunately. This 1915 scene was designed to showcase more of these typical horse wagons of the 1900s that used to carry goods throughout the city.
The beautiful model of the Manhattan bridge was done by companion_3D but I had to revert all the bridge cables back to it’s original configuration.
I also came across a fascinating interactive map viewer of NYC , it was a photographic record of most buildings in the late 30's throughout the five boroughs of NYC. It's a great stroll back in time.
